Buy a brick and take your place in history!

JPL is offering bricks engraved with an inscription of your choice. These bricks will complete the fountain walkway on the historical grounds of the library park. An additional veterans’ memorial will be added at the flagpole. Your tax deductible donation will be used for window restoration. Each brick purchase will be honored with a certificate of recognition. Additional donations are welcomed and appreciated. Brick forms can be picked up at the library, the Chamber of Commerce, and Angels on the Route. Would you like us to send you a blank form by mail? Please call (620)856-5591.

JPL receives visit from Priscilla Howe and friends!

On Thursday, July 16, puppeteer and storyteller, Priscilla Howe, entertained the crowd. Her friends Trixie and Olivia also dropped in.

Nationally known author, Max McCoy, visits JPL.

Author Max McCoy spoke to both children and adults at the July 9 Family Day program. Don’t miss next Thursday’s program! Puppeteer & storyteller, Priscilla Howe will be performing for all ages at 10:00 a.m. and will present a puppet workshop for ages 8 and up, at 1:30 p.m.

Johnston Public Art Museum?!

On June 25th, kids of all ages played games centered around the American art prints hanging in the children’s department. The prints were provided by the “Picturing America” program and grant. In the afternoon, older children painted in the style of Jackson Pollock at the “Be Creative” workshop.

Ms. Pickard is the author of the popular Jenny Cain mysteries and the Marie Lightfoot series. She is also the author of the 2009 “Kansas Reads” selection,
    The Virgin of Small Plains.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Agatha,Macavity, American Mystery and is a three-time Edgar nominee.
